Bedroom w/ Shared Bath Available in 3x2 S Durham Home - $420/mo + Utilities, Available Now

Hello all! My name is Tyler (he/him/his), and I’m a 23y/o MEMS PhD Student at Duke. I have an open bedroom in the home I’m sharing with one other roommate (Brice, he/him/his) available starting in July.

HIGHLIGHTS:

CONVENIENT – Located near...
Hope Valley Farms, this place is in a fantastic spot no matter where you’re headed. Drive just 6 minutes to Duke’s Science Drive Garage, or 20-25 into Chapel Hill. Located conveniently to multiple grocery stores and shopping/dining options. Head into downtown with a 15-minute drive on surface streets, or via bus from a stop a 15 minute walk away. RDU airport 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic.
GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD – This home is in a very safe, quiet, family-friendly neighborhood. The neighbors are sociable, and there is little noise.

THE PACKAGE:

10’x10’ unfurnished bedroom with spacious sliding-door closet
Shared bath with shower-tub combo
Washer, dryer, & dishwasher
Large fenced backyard with patio
Carport with space for 2 + ample street parking
Weekly trash/recycling pickup
$420/mo rent + utilities (average $96/mo per person) for 12-month lease

THE IDEAL ROOMMATE:

Respectful above all – communicate kindly, respect others’ belongings, common spaces, and right to quiet, and express needs and concerns in a timely manner.
No need to be a neat freak, but some level of tidiness goes a long way towards keeping common spaces functional and enjoyable, and towards avoiding pests
Any social inclination – happy to be your friend, also happy to see you once a month so long as rent and bills are taken care of
Not allergic to horses – no horses on the property, but I spend a plenty of time at the barn and cannot promise that the home isn’t contaminated with horsehair
Any age, gender, occupation, or other identity or demographic
LGBTQ+ friendly is a must

FAQs:

MOVE-IN DATE & LEASE LENGTH? Early July would be ideal for move-in, but later dates could be negotiated. Preference is given to early move-in dates. Leases are 12 months, but lease takeovers are possible in theory.
WHAT ARE TENANTS RESPONSIBLE FOR? We are responsible for electric, internet, and water (covered in the $96/mo figure quoted above), along with lawn care and pest control. How much time those last two take, or how much they cost, depends entirely on what we agree on – I’m happy to discuss either taking care of these ourselves or hiring a service for the relevant times of year.
HOW ARE RENT AND DEPOSITS HANDLED? Rent (and other shared expenses) are split up via Splitwise between us. A rental application is required with a one-time fee of $75, on which you will need to provide either 2 months’ proof of income or an offer letter stating your proposed start date and income. You will also need to supply a refundable deposit totaling $616.67 and a non-refundable roommate change fee of $33.34.
FURNISHED? The bedroom is unfurnished. The living area and kitchen are fully stocked, but we are happy to accommodate anything you wish to bring along!

Interested? Shoot me a message and I would be happy to chat with you and set up a virtual or in-person tour. Room will not be considered reserved until you have toured virtually or in-person and had a rental application approved. Look forward to hearing from you!
