Furnished Family Home Near Duke | 5BR, 3BA, Pool, Yard, Duke Forest Trails

Step out your back door and you're in Duke Forest—13+ miles of hiking, running, and mountain biking trails start at the edge of the yard. This is a rare opportunity to live where nature and university life share a property line.

We're a family of...
four who have loved raising our kids in this home, and we're looking for another family or visiting scholar to enjoy it during our sabbatical year. The house is fully furnished and move-in ready.

The Space
Five bedrooms and three full bathrooms across ~3,000 square feet, with plenty of room for a family or a couple who needs dedicated workspaces.
The main living areas open onto a screened porch overlooking the backyard pool. It's where we spend most of our time in the warmer months—morning coffee, afternoon work sessions, evening dinners. The gas firepit and natural gas grill sit just off the porch, perfect for cookouts and fall evenings under the stars.
Inside, you'll find a baby grand piano in the living room, a cozy fireplace for cooler months, and a garage gym for those who prefer to work out at home. The kids will appreciate the basketball hoop in the driveway and the pool all summer long.

Location
Duke's campus is an easy bike ride or morning jog away—close enough to be convenient, far enough to feel like you're living in a neighborhood rather than on campus. The trails out back connect to the broader Duke Forest system, so you can run, hike, or mountain bike for miles without getting in a car.
The neighborhood is quiet, friendly, and full of families. We've built good relationships with our neighbors over the years, and they'll be glad to welcome you.

What's Included
The home is fully furnished with comfortable beds in three of five bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. High-speed internet & Wi-Fi, TV, and a printer are all set up and ready.

Your monthly rate includes biweekly housekeeping, weekly pool service, and full yard maintenance—we want you to spend your sabbatical year focused on your work and family, not on chores.
Utilities (electric, gas, water) are paid by the tenant. This keeps things simple and fair, especially with summer pool and AC usage varying by family.

Ideal For
We'd love to find visiting faculty, researchers, or a professional family relocating to Durham for the year. The house has been a wonderful place to raise kids, and it's set up for family life—but it's equally suited for a couple who wants space to spread out and work from home.
We're prioritizing year-long tenants, though we're open to discussing terms for the right fit.

A Few Details
Pets are negotiable—we're open to cats or small dogs with a pet deposit. A vehicle may be available. Strict no-smoking policy indoors and out.
We're happy to answer questions or schedule a video walkthrough. We've put a lot of love into this home and hope you'll feel it the moment you walk in.
