Historic home in Trinty Park, 200 yards from East Campus.

We are a professional couple--an artist and a Duke professor--who are away for half of 2027 on sabbatical and seeking a responsible renter for our much-loved home.

It is perfectly located for Durham in a very sought-after neighborhood. It is...
minutes from Duke's East Campus. A regular free bus connects east campus with west campus and Duke hospital. The linking campus road also has a designated bike lane. And the use of our car (and/or bike) is negotiable. The best dining and entertainment spots in Durham are very close by--Ninth St's restaurants and cafés, Main Street's offerings of the same, the Art District, and a Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Pleasant walks can be taken in all directions--the neighborhood itself, the Ellerbee Creek trail, and East Campus.

The house itself is historic with a slate roof and a brick and cedar shingle facade--part of the original Duke build. But the kitchen and bathrooms have been remodeled. The kitchen is a chef's kitchen should that appeal. The usual amenities are all in place. The garden is distinctly large and private out back, and overlooked by a hot tub. A screened porch is positioned overlooking the front garden. The house is decorated internally with plants and original art, although care for the plants would be negotiable. Not everyone has green fingers.

We would ideally like to leave mid-January, but we have some flexibility on start date if we find the right people. We return late July/early August but, again, can be somewhat flexible.

We have frequently used Trusted Housesitters to cover our shorter trips, and reviews of our hosting and house can be found there.

We are happy to provide further information on request.
